THis is utterly random: What's the most famous television quote of all time? AFI was nice enough to have a movie list, but what about TV? Is there a more famous/better line than "As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly." Does anything top that?
Apparently a lot does, as it doesn't even make TV Land's Top 100. It seems like everything is catchphrases or news quotes, which isn't what I'm looking for. The former is repetitive and the latter isn't reliant on the television format. Still, the list should have made room for the turkeys!

Most famous television quote of all time? "turkeys..." could hardly fit that bill, as I couldn't identify it. One had to be a fan of WKRP for that one to register. Looking through the Top 100 list, I guess I'd have to go with Armstrong's quote because I think more people could identify it.
That turkey quote is classic even if you don't know who Loni Anderson is. :)
I can imagine so many scenarios that make that quote funny it's hard to believe it's not top 100.
I mean come on, their number 4 isn't even the best from that series. "To the moon Alice! To the moon!"
These lists always seem to be designed to give people something to argue about.
"You're Fired!" is #3????? Good grief!
And no "Not that there's anything wrong with that!"? Well, at least some Seinfeld made the list.
Don't worry JT, I never heard the turkey quote either.
Billy Crystal got his network start on a show from the 70's called Soap. It was a prime-time spoof of daytime dramas, and as I recall it was quite racy for its time. Crystal played a gay man who wanted to adopt a kid, and met resistance from the adoption agency. Says the man from the agency "Are you a practicing homosexual?" Replies Crystal, "I don't have to practice, I'm very good at it."
